This is a 348 cid Chevy V8 engine block that came in to have the cylinders bored & honed for some new oversize pistons. The 348 is the smaller version of the infamous 409. The 348 & 409 engines are unique because the cylinder heads are flat on their surfaces much like a diesel cylinder which doesn’t typically have a combustion chamber. As can be seen in the pictures the combustion chamber is the larger diameter angled area in the block above the cylinders.
