Here’s some pics of a forged crankshaft for a small block Chevy blower engine mounted in our mill for quarter key machining. When using a roots type blower, or anything driven off the crank, we will machine a woodruff key slot in the snout a hundred and eighty degrees from the stock woodruff key for a quarter key. This gives a larger contact area between the snout and balancer / hub by using a larger woodruff key so the blower hub can handle the extra force produced from having to spin the blower.
