This is a Cummins ISC 8.3 liter C-series 24 valve diesel cylinder head that we performed a valve job and surface on. We offer complete cylinder head service and rebuilding right here at our shop in Las Vegas. We also offer complete, full, custom, and high performance machine work and we do all machine work here in house in our complete machine shop. This head was first disassembled and thermal cleaned in our Bayco cleaning oven. After thermal cleaning it went into our Zero Blast-N-Peen shotblaster to be shotblasted. After shotblasting we performed a magnaflux to check and inspect the cylinder head for cracks. After no visual cracks could be detected we installed the cylinder head into our pressure tester so we could pressure test the cylinder head for leaks. After the head all checked out good, we sandblasted all the valves so we could inspect them and measure them up. Once all the valves checked good we chucked them up in our Sioux valve grinder re-facer to machine them to specs. The cylinder head was then mounted to our Tobin-Arp seat-and-guide machine so we could machine the valve seats. After the valve job was done we mounted the cylinder head in our AMC surfacer so the deck / surface of the head could be milled / surfaced smooth and flat. Once all the machine work was done the valve springs were checked for proper free height and then each one was compressed in our Rimac valve spring tester to ensure they all yield the proper open and closed pressures. And finally we installed positive viton hat style valve stem seals onto the valve guides and assembled the cylinder head. Once the cylinder head was all assembled we did one final test on our K-Line vacuum tester and pulled vacuum on each intake and exhaust valve to make sure the valves were all sealing 100% on their respective valve seats.
