This is a Cummins NTC350 Big Cam III cylinder block, cylinder heads, and rocker boxes that came in to be cleaned, magnafluxed, measured, inspected, and machined. We had to remove the cylinder liners from the block before we could get a good look at the lower bores. This was the first thing we did because the engine came in due to coolant contamination in the oil. The cylinder heads were also checked on their surfaces for warpage and pressure tested before any surfacing and milling was performed in order to try and diagnose the problem. The counterbores were also checked around their circumferences for depth and squareness to make sure the liners were seating square and flat in the block. It isn’t uncommon to have to line bore the housing bore, machine the counterbores, bore and sleeve the lower seal areas, and surface the deck to make it flat and square on many engines. The Cummins Big Cam engine is an inline 6 cylinder diesel engine that is often found powering on highway Class 8 trucks such as Freightliner, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Navistar, and many others.
