This is an old original copper and brass radiator for a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle with a flathead V8 gas engine in it. This radiator has the thermostat mounted into the front side of the top inlet radiator tank that operates the opening and closing of the shutters on the grill. The radiator was completely plugged internally which can be seen in the pictures. Just about every single core and tube was plugged solid. It is because of this internal radiator core tube plugging and blockage that the ‘ol Caddy was running hot and overheating. We boiled the radiator core in our hot tank and ultrasonic before rodding out the tubes of the core to get them cleared out and clean. Once we got all the tubes or cores cleared out the tubes and core were flowing 100% again. The tanks and connections were all unsoldered and then blasted clean inside and out. Once all the parts were cleaned and stripped they were ready to be tinned up with fresh new solder. When we restore one of these old radiators every single piece that is soldered into or onto the tanks is removed, cleaned, stripped, and re-tinned before getting soldered back in place. Once this radiator is all done, rebuilt, & restored we will post pictures of it with a new fresh coat of paint.
