These are pics of a Caterpillar 6060FS shovel cooling package we overhauled & delivered back to our customer. The cooling package consists of an aluminum radiator & aluminum intercooler (or aftercooler). Both were leaking when the assembly came in. We were able to tig weld all the leaks in the radiator & got a good pressure test out of it. The intercooler however was leaking due to several cracked tubes. We recored the intercooler with a new heavy duty core. Recoring an aluminum cooler involves cutting the tanks & side plates off the old core, machining them to size & then tig welding them onto the new core. After the radiator & intercooler both pressure tested good we bolted them together & set them on our custom built stand for delivery back to the mine site.
