Here are some pics of a couple of aluminum air & oil coolers we had in for repairing. Both coolers are combination coolers which have a short section of the core that cools air while the larger section of the core cools oil. These coolers are for the compressors on Caterpillar 495, or 7495, shovels. Both coolers were leaking near where the tanks are welded to the cores. We elected to cut portions of the tanks in order to gain access to the leak areas for tig welding. We then tig welded the tanks back up & pressure tested both sections of each cooler at high pressure to ensure they are leak free.
