Here’s some close-up pics of a Mesabi radiator that was leaking in a Komatsu 830E-5 haul truck. When we arrived onsite coolant was leaking from one of the Mesabi radiator tubes on the engine & fan side of the radiator. After locking out the machine, draining the coolant & the fan guard removed we were able to climb up inside the fan shroud to remove leaking tube. Since the tube was in the lower half of the radiator the upper tubes directly above the leaking tube had to be removed first. While inside the fan shroud looking around we found a stray washer that was a bit tweaked from getting thrown into the radiator by the fan. This is a newer Mesabi radiator with aluminum fins on the copper tubes. We got the radiator sealed up & our customer was able to put the machine back in service with minimal downtime.
