Here’s some before & after pics of a Komatsu 830E haul truck Pivot Eye, or Nosecone, we had in for machining. The bore that houses the spherical bearing was worn & out-of-round. We machined the bore with our RAD (Right Angle Drive) boring fixture for an oversize bearing carrier. After the bore is machined to size for the proper press-fit of the oversize bearing carrier, the oversize bearing carrier is pressed in place. The new spherical bearing & retaining rings are installed & the bolts torqued to spec. The nosecone is as good as new & ready for another round of service.
