Here’s an old cast iron water pump that came in for repairing & rebuilding. These old water pumps come in due to the seals leaking which usually also means the main shaft is pitted & corroded. We typically end up machining a new shaft if the original one is too far gone. Sometimes the original seals can’t be sourced so we will also machine the internals for newer style seals. After the rebuild is complete we spin the pump under pressure to make sure it doesn’t leak both while not spinning as well as while the shaft is turning.
