Here’s some pics of a 60-Series Detroit, or DDC, diesel engine block mounted on our Rottler EM105H CNC boring & milling machine we had in for machine work reconditioning. The housing bore, where the main bearings & crankshaft go, required line boring to get each main perfectly round & straight across the board. Up top the counterbores required sleeve inserts due to heavy pitting & fretting from electrolysis. The lower seal areas where the sleeves install required sleeving as well. The last thing was to surface the deck of the block flat & square.
