Here are some pics of a Caterpillar 793C haul truck rear axle a-frame support we repaired. The bore in the end of the A-Frame Support was worn & cracked into the bolt holes. Since machining & welding the hitch pin bore was out of the question we air arced (Air Carbon Arc Gouging) the yoke off of the A-Frame support legs. We then welded a new #229-7378 yoke to the legs of the support. It’s a bit tricky getting the yoke all welded in place without the legs moving around & flexing due to the heat from welding. Our fixturing jig ensures we maintain the correct dimensions from the mounting pads of the legs to the centerline of the hitch pin bore & the bolt holes. The A-Frame Support now has a new hitch bore & ready for another round of service.
