Here’s some pics of the International, or Navistar, MaxxForce 13 diesel cylinder head that came in for rebuilding. One of the first inspection checks we perform is to magnaflux a cylinder head for cracks. If no cracks are detected during magnafluxing then the head moves on to pressure testing. With this particular head we found multiple cracks in cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 with cylinder number 6 being the only one with no visible cracks. Our customer has elected to replace the cylinder head.
