Here are some pics of a Caterpillar 16M Grader Axle we’re machining. We’re doing a complete rebuild to the axle assembly. The main axle piece is mounted on our Rottler EM105H Multipurpose CNC boring & milling machine. We have programs written & saved in the machine for boring all the bores as well as milling the worn surfaces. Once we mount one of these axles in the machine we locate certain pick-up points so the machine knows where the part is located on the bed. This then allows us to machine the bores & surfaces in their correct locations even though they come in worn out & out of position. We’ll post more on this one as we go.
