Here are some pics of a pair of aluminum aftercoolers for a Caterpillar 789D haul truck. Also referred to as a CAC, or charge air cooler. The turbo blows into the aftercoolers which cools the intake charge air down to make more horsepower. Both coolers were cleaned internally & externally before pressure testing & inspecting. Repairs were made accordingly to address any leaks. A final pressure test ensures they are leak free. A final internal flushing & external cleaning make them ready for another round of service.
