Here’s some before & after pics of a hardnose cooling system we rebuilt for a Caterpillar D10T2 dozer. This one had some damage to the grill gates as well as substantial external fouling of dirt, mud & debris to the fins of the radiator, ac condenser & aftercoolers. Inside the nosecone, or hardnose, is a MESABI radiator which we overhauled with new tubes on both faces or leading edges as the original tubes were heavily damaged from debris. Both aftercoolers, or CAC’s, were replaced because both of the original coolers had leaks in the headers due to cracks in the tubes which were previously repaired with epoxy. The yokes on the front of the hardnose were machined, welded back up & then re-machined back to the spec size as they were both worn & loose in the bores. The entire cooling system was in dire need of extensive cleaning & repairs as it was used up beyond its reliable & useful service life.
