Here are some pics of a couple of Komatsu 830E-5 haul truck clean emissions modules, or DPF’s. These diesel particulate filters came in for cleaning as they were plugged up with soot & carbon build-up. We cut the stainless steel housings open in order to achieve access to the SCR substrates. We then thermal clean the filters in our oven. We then vacuum & blow out the honeycomb ceramic DPF substrates until we achieve 100% flow through them. Once we do this the diesel particulate filters are then ready to be put back into service. This brings engine performance & output back to 100% & keeps the machine in environmental compliance with regards to the exhaust emissions.
