Here are some pics of some heavy duty precision machining we’re doing to a Caterpillar #478-8991 blade hanger bracket. The rectangle shaped pockets came in extremely worn & metal plates had been welded in the pockets to try & make up for the worn away material. We first cut all the plates out that were welded in place in the rectangle pockets. We then programmed our Rottler EM105H CNC Boring & Milling machine for the locations & dimensions of the four rectangle pockets. Once the machine was programmed & setup, we machined all three sides of each of the four rectangle pockets until all the surfaces were flat & square & in their proper dimensional locations. We then welded the pockets up & then ran the programmed cycle for the machine to go back & machine the welded up pockets back to their finished dimensions & locations.
