Here are some pics of a CEM (clean emissions module) we had in for cleaning & reconditioning service. This unit is basically the DPF (diesel particulate filter) for a 789 Caterpillar haul truck. The long rectangle pieces with the round honeycomb type passages is the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) catalysts which is what gets plugged up with soot. Complete cleaning restores airflow through the SCR’s, or catalysts, which allows the unit to provide proper emissions control.
